Independent PROJECTS RESIDENCY
The option to work on an Independent Project is intended for creative people in all mediums who don’t need access to advanced facilities or instructional staff. It is perfect for someone who wants the time to paint, write, create music or choreography, build a site-specific installation, or photograph the landscapes and small towns of the Upper Peninsula.
Make work, hike, swim, meditate, and let the wilderness inspire you. Facilities will be available for use, including space and electricity in the Studio Barn and communal A-Frame cabin, and the Porcupine Palace - a reclaimed hunting blind just a fifteen-minute walk into the forest from the center of camp. Outdoor spaces abound, and the open air Picnic Pavilion is open for use between meals.
Collaborate in woodworking and homesteading with our local friend, Mel Seeger, at his “one-man-Mac-truck-sawmill” in Matchwood, just down the road.
